MonelK500 Pipe and Tube

MONEL K-500 alloy has the same corrosion resistance as 400, but has higher mechanical strength and hardness. It has good heat corrosion resistance and long-term structural stability. It is mainly used to manufacture turbine blades and gas turbine blades on aircraft engines with an operating temperature below 750°C; used to manufacture fasteners and springs on ships; pumps and valve parts on chemical equipment; and scraper blades on papermaking equipment.

In addition to its excellent mechanical properties such as high strength, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties, Monel K500 alloy also has the same corrosion resistance as Monel 400. It can be used as a pump shaft material and is suitable for working under harsh geological mining conditions of high-sulfur and high-wax oil layers. Since the alloy has no plastic-brittle transition temperature, it is very suitable for various low-temperature equipment. This alloy is mainly used for pump shafts and valve stems, conveyor scrapers, oil well drill rings, elastic parts, valve pads, etc. It is suitable for petroleum, chemical, shipbuilding, pharmaceutical, and electronic sectors.

 

Chemical composition

The chemical composition of this alloy is roughly the same as that of Monel 400. The biggest difference is that it contains 2.3-3.15% Al and 0.30-1.00% Ti. The organizational characteristics of this alloy are the same as those of Monel 400 alloy except for the precipitation of dispersed Ni3 (Al, Ti) precipitation phase.

While 904L is highly ductile, its high nickel (25%) and molybdenum (4.5%) content make it extremely tough and prone to rapid work-hardening,  When welding 904L studs or components, use matching filler metals (e.g., 20 25 CuL) and avoid pre-heating to prevent hot cracking. Use Tri-Roll Thread Comparators and calibrated gauges to ensure precision, as 904L is prone to galling (seizing) during assembly if threads are not perfect.
