904L bolt 1.4539 UNS N08904

Manufacturing 904L bolts is significantly more difficult than manufacturing standard 304 or 316 grades. While 904L is highly ductile, its high nickel (25%) and molybdenum (4.5%) content make it extremely tough and prone to rapid work-hardening,  When welding 904L studs or components, use matching filler metals (e.g., 20 25 CuL) and avoid pre-heating to prevent hot cracking. Use Tri-Roll Thread Comparators and calibrated gauges to ensure precision, as 904L is prone to galling (seizing) during assembly if threads are not perfect.

Why It is Hard to Manufacture Alloy 904L Fasteners

Poor Machinability:as 904L UNS N08904 hex bolt has a “gummy” nature, which can cause chips to stick to tools (built-up edge) and requires higher cutting forces.

Work Hardening:If cutting speeds of 904L hex head bolt are too high or feed rates too light, the surface hardens instantly, destroying standard cutting tools.

Tool Wear:Significant tool wear in processing DIN 1.4539 bolts is common, requiring frequent regrinding or the use of specialized expensive inserts.

Forming Force: high alloy content of Alloy904L fasteners requires more powerful equipment for cold forming compared to standard stainless steels

904L is recognized globally under multiple standards:

  • ‌UNS N08904‌ (U.S. Unified Numbering System)
  • ‌1.4539‌ (DIN/Werkstoff Germany)
  • ‌X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5‌ (EN Europe)
  • ‌F904L‌ (ASTM/ASME specifications) ‌

Essential Equipment to Prepare of DIN933 full thread 904L Bolt

To manufacture 904L bolts from M3 to M56 successfully, your facility should be equipped with the following:

Process Category  Required Equipment & Tools
Forming of 904L bolts High-power Cold Heading Machines for smaller bolts or Hot Forging Presses (capable of 850–1150°C) for larger diameters.
Machining of 904L fasteners Heavy-duty CNC Machines with high rigidity to withstand vibration. Use Sharp Carbide or Ceramic Tools with positive rake angles.
Threading of 1.4539 hex bolt Thread Rolling Machines (preferred for strength) or specialized tapping tools for high-nickel alloys.
Heat Treatment of 904L hex head bolt Annealing Furnaces capable of reaching 1090°C–1175°C, followed by rapid Quenching Tanks to restore corrosion resistance.
Cooling of nickle alloy 904L bolt High-Pressure Coolant Systems to manage the intense heat generated during machining.
Quality Control of uns n08904 bolt Spectro Analyzers for chemical verification and Tensile/Hardness Testers (ISO 898-1/ISO 6508-1).

Who will buy our 904L bolts ,if you are blow company , you might have need for 904L fasteners:

  • EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Firms: Companies that build large-scale industrial plants
  • Chemical Plant Operators: Maintenance departments for companies industry like BASF, Dow, or local fertilizer manufacturers.
  • Marine Equipment Manufacturers: Builders of desalination plants, heat exchangers, and underwater ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles).
  • Pressure Vessel Manufacturers: Specialized shops that build boilers and reactors to ASME standards.
  • Industrial Valve & Pump Manufacturers: Companies needing high-durability internal 904L fasteners for equipment moving corrosive fluids.
  • Fastener Distributors & Stockists: Large-scale wholesalers who supply regional industrial hubs

‌Why choose Jiangsu high hope industry to buy 904L bolt nut fasteners ?

In 2026, the preference for manufactured 904L bolts often stems from China’s mature industrial ecosystem, advanced automation, and massive production capacity. Now we have integrated robotic production, AI-powered smart factories, and in-line inspection systems that ensure consistent micrometer-level tolerances for complex alloys like 904L.In our town, assembly plants, raw material suppliers, and specialized coating facilities are often clustered in “mega-industrial parks”. This proximity allows for faster lead times and rapid prototyping that Indian manufacturers, often facing infrastructure gaps, may struggle to match.
